GiveStar

High-impact tech for good causes everywhere

Before the rebrand

This project was not only a rebrand, but included a name-change too. TapSimple started out as a portable fundraising device, and post-pandemic, was branching out to offer software for voluntary organisations in a digital, cashless world.

GiveStar is the easy way to empower fundraisers, by providing simple tools, all in one place. They offer a seamless suite of fundraising tools for teams and communities that are easy to use, help raise more money, and minimise admin. Fundraising communities can manage themselves, onboard quickly, fundraise flexibly, and access motivating real-time data - with permissions and oversight from HQ. Personal insight support is offered along the way and user feedback is rolled into the product updates on a regular basis – made for charities, with charities.

My role

I joined the project as the new name was selected, a few months before the launch. In the ideation phase, I designed the visual brand identity, the design system, and the vision for the customer experience that could translate across all touch points. I commissioned an illustrator, Jake Tyas, to create the illustration concept and worked with the product design team on the digital experience and product interface.

The logo

The logomark comprises of a logotype and a Starburst. The Starburst represents the enthusiasm of the fundraising community.

Colours & typography

A deep yellow is used as the primary colour, along with a selection of complementary colours, to bring life to the brand.

Following on from the personality principles, the typefaces are feel-good/friendly and more human than a classic tech company.

Illustration

Together with illustrator, Jake Tyas, we produced a distinctive suite of Fundraiser Figures that appear to have originated from star shapes. These figures feature the brand yellow and are intended to embody the optimism and enthusiasm of the fundraising community. We also produced a series of hand illustrations that visualised all the different functions the website offered. Since hands are synonymous with giving, we showed hands performing tasks as much as possible.
